YOU'RE INVITED
Chapel 94th Anniversary

Join us on Sunday 3 October at 12 midday to celebrate the 94th anniversary since the School Chapel Foundation stone was laid.

The Truro School Chapel Foundation Stone was laid on 8 June 1927 by the Prince of Wales. Some years back the date of this annual celebration was moved to the beginning of the academic year because the June date meant 5th Year and Upper Sixth had either left or were on study leave. Holding the service earlier meant that sometimes former students could sing in the choir before going off to university

This year the Canon Chancellor Revd Alan Bashforth from the Cathedral will be our guest preacher and the Chamber Choir (which includes the girl choristers) will be singing. Former pupils are invited to attend as are the Friends of Truro School and there is an open invite to staff, pupils and parents.

John Clymo CO46

John Clymo CO46 was one of several scholarship recipients who began their time at Truro School in the year World War II started. He was relieved to find the war didn’t have much effect on his school experience. John’s Truro School education enabled him to secure a rare ‘straight from school’ place to read Economics at University College London before pursuing a career with British Electric Traction. His jobs in the transport industry lead to him working abroad in Jamaica and Kenya with his family before moving back to Cornwall in retirement.

September 1921 - A new era dawns

The summer of 1921 saw a changing of the guard at Truro School. Long-time headmaster H.W. Vinter (TS 1883-1921, Head from 1890) retired, as did several other members of staff, so the new Autumn Term saw the introduction of some new faces at the school. Take a look to find out who they were.
