Matthew Pitman CO17

Matt spent much of his time at Truro School in the Burrell theatre where, with the help of fellow OT Swen Kearey CO02 and the Burrell team, he found his passion for photography and videography.

In this article Matt talks about the last four years spent creating social media content production through to music videos and broadcast journalism, working with clients such as Nokia and Superdry. He also talks about surviving lockdown and the exciting news of his latest venture - a new creative production agency: JAMZ.

G7 Summit Education packs

This month Truro School launched new educational resources for primary and secondary school teachers which include lesson plans and fun activites based around the G7 Summit which will be held this June in Carbis Bay, Cornwall.

Melody Huckle CO10

Melody, daughter of Old Truronian Staff Members Mark and Ruth Huckle, has followed in her parents footsteps by joining the teaching profession. Melody teaches primary age children in reception, Year 1 and Year 2 and in this article she talks about supporting her pupils during the challenges of lockdown and shares some exciting personal news with the Truro School community.

Dr Harry Fonseca Williams CO10

Monday 10 May 2021 saw the LEAF charity (founded by Dr Harry Fonseca Williams CO10) lead the most biodiverse tree planting event in East African History with nearly 800 trees planted of over 100 species (many critically endangered).

Jim Clark (TS 1974-1997)

Jim Clark taught Chemistry at Truro School for over 20 years before writing several textbooks and setting up 'Chemguide' in retirement. 'Chemguide' is a website used by virtually every A-Level Chemistry student in the UK and has around 1.4 million visits worldwide each month.

May Madness Fundraiser

In tribute to his brother who was stillborn, Truro School student James is raising money for Tommy's - a charity who provide funding for research into miscarriage, premature birth & stillbirth. James will be running 3km, cycling 3km, and rowing 1km everyday for 30 days of May.

Last month Will flew to Madrid, Spain, to represent Team GB in fencing at the final qualifier for the Tokyo Olympics.

Simon Dunstan CO06

Simon graduated from Cardiff University in 2011 with a masters in Applied Environmental Geology and worked in Australia until 2015. Now back in the UK Simon works as a Chartered Senior Environmental Consultant in the Contaminated Land and Hydrogeology team for Atkins, a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy. One of his recent projects received a 'highly commended' at the Brownfield Awards 2020.

With a Human Geography degree and 7 years experience working in the hospitality sector, Tegan identified gaps within waste management systems and training. So, she turned her attention towards addressing the issues endeavouring to find a solution. Read how plans for her new App could potentially reduce waste from Cornwall's hospitality industry by up to 40%.

140th Anniversary of the Foundation Stone

This month Truro School Archivist, Jo Wood, details what happened 140 years ago in June 1881 when the Truro School foundation stone was laid at the present school site.

Richard Luff CO70

Whilst in Sixth Form at Truro School, Richard Luff was inspired to pursue a career in Engineering after a talk given by Old Truronian Michael Haywood CO68. Now retired and settled in Surrey, Richard talks of his time at Truro School and the career which took him around the world.
