School News: Sing2G7 Launches

We are delighted to share news about an exciting new Children's outreach project, Sing2G7, featuring a song written by Sir Tim Rice.

The Sing2G7 project is led by Truro Cathedral in patnership with Truro School, the Diocese of Truro, Cornwall Music Services Trust, Cornwall Council and in collaboration with Y7, the Youth Summit which precedes and feeds into G7.

Lieutenant Kiani Pay CO13

Lieutenant Kiani Pay stepped up to be part of the COVID-19 vaccine Quick Reaction Force, supporting the NHS in the South East of England. Her hard work recently featured in an article shared by The Ministry of Defence.

David Pierce (TS 1975-1995)

David Pierce taught English and General Science at Truro School Prep for 20 years as well as coaching many young aspiring sporting talents, including Sir Ben Ainslie CO95, Laura Harper CO02 and Malcolm Bell CO87.

We are excited to be looking for two individuals to join the Truro School Governing Body. Old Truronians are undoubtedly best placed to understand the ethos and values of the School. For those of you in the earlier parts of your career, this is an opportunity to improve your skill set and gain Board experience and for those with more experience, an opportunity to offer something back to the Truro School community and family.

Truro School Boy Choristers'
We hope you enjoy this video of the Boy Choristers' lockdown project, 'A Million Dreams' from 'The Greatest Showman' which they learnt during lockdown through their online rehearsals and recorded at home. The Boy Choristers range in age from 8-13 and are all educated at Truro School Prep and Truro School Senior.

In this blog post, Christopher Gray writes about the challenges that the choir faced during lockdown and how and why this project came into being. Sir Patrick Vallance CO78

In a recent article in The Guardian newspaper, Old Truronian Sir Patrick Vallance CO78, talks of his former Truro School chemistry teacher Mr Jim Clark (TS 1974 - 1997) as being an early influence.

In memory of
 HRH The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh

On 9 April 2021 Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh passed away at the grand age of 99. One of his most notable initiatives was setting up the Duke of Edinburgh Award (DofE), which launched in 1956, and over six decades later sees close to 300,000 14-24-year-olds complete an Award every year.

Dr Matthias Kreimeyer CO95

Matthias is one of many German Old Truronians who attended Truro School for a year as part of the German education programme. Now Senior Vice President of a German company and part-time Lecturer at various universities in Germany, Austria and the US, he shares fond memories of his time at the School and the beautiful county in which it resides.
